About the role
We are seeking a talented and dedicated HSE Environmental professional to join the team at PT Marcopolo Shipyard in Batam, Riau Islands. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across all the company’s operations. This is a crucial position that will play a key part in protecting our workforce and safeguarding the local environment.
What you’ll be doing
Developing, implementing and monitoring environmental management systems and processes to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry best practices
Conducting risk assessments, audits and inspections to identify potential environmental hazards and implement appropriate control measures
Providing training and guidance to employees on environmental protection and sustainability practices
Collaborating with government agencies and local authorities to ensure effective management of waste, emissions and other environmental impacts
Maintaining accurate records and reporting on the company’s environmental performance
Continuously researching and implementing innovative solutions to enhance the company’s environmental sustainability
What we’re looking for
Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an HSE or environmental management role, preferably within the mining, resources or shipbuilding industries
Thorough understanding of environmental legislation, regulations and best practices applicable to the industry
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate environmental risks
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities to liaise effectively with employees, authorities and the local community
Proactive, detail-oriented and committed to continuous improvement in environmental performance

About the role
As an HSE Officer at PT Marcopolo Shipyard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety and environmental well-being of our operations in Batam, Riau Islands. What you’ll be doing
Implementing and monitoring health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices across the shipyard
Conducting risk assessments, developing and executing safety plans, and providing training to employees on safety protocols
Investigating incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Liaising with regulatory authorities and ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation
Promoting a strong safety culture through effective communication, awareness campaigns and employee engagement
Maintaining comprehensive records and reporting on key health, safety and environmental performance indicators
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address potential risks and sustainability opportunities
What we’re looking for
Minimum 3 years of experience as an HSE Officer or in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing industry
Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management or a related field
Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations, standards and best practices
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with employees at all levels
Proficient in using HSE-related software and data management tools
Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia
